Error 404 Page

You must own your own domain to do this, free servers like freewebs,piczo, or geocites etc... will not allow you to make a customized error page. If you don't know what an error 404 page is, don't fret. When you go to a page that doesn't exist or a link that has a broken url, you'll usually get one of those ugly plain blank error pages and they'll usually say something like "object not found".

If you want to have a customized error page then all you got to do is follow this tutorial. See for example I have a customized error page on my site. Say you went to something like http://www.trixinity.net/sdfgsxdgsdg go ahead, click it. See the prettier version of my own customized error page. Well you can make one to. Here's how.

Your host must allow it so after you follow this if your custom page doesn't work ask your host. Open a new page in notepad. Add this code:

ErrorDocument 404 /404.html

Now save that as .htaccess.txt then open your ftp program and upload it to your main directory. Right click and rename the file just .htaccess after it's uploaded. Now open notepad again and put all your pretty stuff you want to be on the 404 page like. "Oops this page doesn't exist" and then put like an image or something saying 404. Now save that as 404.html Upload that also to your server. Make sure that's also in the main directory.

Now test it out. Go to something like http://www.yourdomain.com/szgsgsd and see if it works!!! Enjoy if it does. If it doesn't then ask your host to enable it for you then you should be fine. Enjoy :)
